Playing hide and seek

Does your toddler or preschooler like games? By playing the games in the adventures of vegetable heroes together or independently, the vegetable friends become more and more familiar. In this way, your child will build a healthy relationship with vegetables game by game. Fun and useful all at once.

Until your child knows vegetables, it is absolutely permissible to hide vegetables in food. After all, hide-and-seek is also a beautiful game. Don’t hesitate but throw those vegetable(s) into a soup, sauce or smoothie. Be sure to try “vegetable products” such as; vegetable wraps with carrots, pizza crust with cauliflower or pasta with spinach in it.

Check the label to make sure there is enough fiber and not too much fat and salt in the product. You may still end up getting less fiber, despite the extra “vegetables. Therefore, choose these “vegetable products” mainly because you like them or for a change. As a rule, the more recognizable the vegetable, the healthier.

But “I see, I see what you don’t” works better with fresh or frozen vegetables. Build it slowly through a stew with small broccoli florets, through a quiche with larger pieces of carrot or parsnip, to a whole cauliflower that you slice at the table. Make the moment of eating a feast of recognition. Welcome the vegetable friends.

Choose a recognizable vegetable with your hot meal. Ask your child if they recognize the vegetable(s), what they taste and experience when eating. And then if you choose to hide vegetables once, make your own soup, preferably with pieces of vegetables and not pureed, and even then name what you see and taste.

Hide-and-seek at the table. Who would have ever thought that!
